The Wells of Inspiration

Inspiration For Creatives Are you a creative out there; a writer, poet, drawing artist, or illustrator, and you have on more than one occasion found yourself staring at a blank page, canvas, or artboard without the slightest of ideas on how to create that killer work of art? Here’s a guide to acing your next piece. The Problem When faced with a creative block, it almost feels like our competence is being tested with fire, our creative wells drained to the core, and the urge to create utterly quenched. At this point, we can easily quit and down our tools but today, we’ll be slowly watering down that wall and making a way through the seemingly impenetrable blockage. As a Creative, I love to do and look at things differently: What are my client’s pain points? What message do they wish to pass? What contribution will my work make in achieving the client’s goals? I use these as the building blocks which give me some traction and the wall will sooner or later start fading away, giving a glimpse of the other side of the challenge; a happy client, a successful Ad campaign, and a successful product launch. The Solution Aimed at providing a tangible and measurable solution to my clients, I will make informed decisions. Layer upon layer, shape upon shape, element upon element, and slowly, the once hard-to-face blank canvas becomes the conduit of a problem-solving creative work; with the right font choice, coupled with carefully selected colors, a reasonable amount of contrast, and a well-balanced layout. The design problem is the replenishment of my wells of inspiration, and my creativity, the channel through which your solution is brought home. How do you face your creative block? I’d like to know through the comments. If you need help with Brand Strategy, please feel free to reach out to me.
